House Blends
There is a common perception that blends are often used to hide defects in the individual components of the blend. There may be some truth to this, but it is certainly not always the case. We build our blends to harness the synergy between complementary beans, much like a chef combines ingredients. Fruity matches well with chocolatey. Caramel goes with nut, tobacco with raisin, and so on. It is clichéd, but it's true - a good blend is a symphony for the taste buds.
To produce these blends we do not pre-blend the green beans and then roast. This procedure disregards the varying "sweet spots" of the component beans. Instead, we roast each bean to its own perfect level and then blend the beans post-roast.
(Something important to note: Since we are a boutique roaster, one week's House Blend might have a slightly different bean content and flavor profile from the next's. We value and enjoy these shades of difference and hope you will too.)
Moka Java Blend
This is our recreation of the classic. A very bright and fruity East African juxtaposed beautifully with a dark chocolately Indonesian. Perfect body, perfect balance. As always, the individual components of this blend are roasted to their own "sweet spot" and then blended. Great for drip, French press, Aeropress, espresso, cowboy coffee - you name it.

Red Dog House Blend
Expect a full body with brooding dark notes, light chocolate and caramel undertones, but the overwhelming characteristic of this blend is the rich buttery mouth feel - think butter toffee. The final note is of nuts with a fading clean finish. Designed specifically for drip and press but also works well for espresso.

Serendipity Blend
Sometimes the moon and the stars align just right and the coffee gods smile upon us. This blend resulted largely by accident and immediately became one of my all-time favorites. Lots of fruit highlight a dark chocolate base in a well-balanced cup. Designed as an espresso blend but also great for drip and press.
